Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge (Aug 17, 2009)

Below are images captured on Monday at the East Pond of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. A notable bird present on the pond was an American Golden-Plover, but it remained in a flock of Black-bellied Plovers (and other birds), so I was not able to capture a good image.

You've captured some really nice images here, Clarence. I especially like the water level perspective and the separation from the background in all of them. Great stuff!

Thanks Tim. Getting down on the ground (mud) provides an excellent perspective on birds and helps eliminate distracting elements. So far, most of the good birds have stayed a little farther away than I would like (using a 600mm + 1.4 teleconverter), but I am going back a few more times, so I'm hoping for some closer captures.
